Reach is contracted with Hennepin County to provide Parenting Capacity Services to families with an open Child Protective Services (CPS) case in which parenting education was court-ordered. The focus of this program is to improve the parents’ skills and to improve parent-child interactions. Our Parenting Skills Educators teach skills to improve the well-being of the children and families by strengthening parenting abilities, reducing reports of abuse and neglect, and preventing out of home placements.
Our trained Parent Educators incorporate Quality Parenting Initiative (QPI) practices and Protective Factors (parent resilience, nurturing and attachment, knowledge of parenting and child development, social and emotional competence of children, social connections, concrete supports) in supporting families with children placed both in and outside the home to promote relationship building in hopes of reunification and/or reduced involvement with child protection services.
