Let’s just say, without hooking it up to an amplifier, you’re in for a pretty lackluster listening experience.
The Boytone BT-28MB system with small external speakers seriously disappointed me. Its sound is tinny, completely lacking in bass, and you can’t adjust the audio at all. Worse, the right channel just wouldn’t work for my records, and the needle kept skipping on brand-new vinyl.
Initially, I liked the Crosley CR42D-PA due to its attractive vintage design, but that’s where the positives end. The sound quality is poor, with no options for adjustments or connecting external speakers. Playing 33 RPM records, I noticed erratic RPMs. The controls are frustratingly hard to use, and to top it off, the CD player feels fragile, like it could break easily. Aesthetically pleasing but functionally disappointing.
